D. John Miller
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
In the 25 years since founding DJM Capital Partners, John Miller's sharp entrepreneurial instincts, impeccable market timing and real estate investment acumen have grown the company to $1 Billion in assets.
In commercial real estate for over 30 years, Miller formed his company in the early 90s to participate in the massive liquidation of commercial real estate resulting from the savings and loan crisis, opportunistically acquiring $75 million in bank-owned assets in California, selling the portfolio at a significant return.
With a smart acquisitions strategy and value-add approach through property renovation, re-leasing, change of use and creative financing, the company's growing portfolio, held by DJM's various equity funds, continues to generate attractive returns for investors.
Miller holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated cum laude.
As a principal of DJM, Lindsay Parton directs Southern California property acquisitions and oversees all development and construction activities for the company.
Parton leads DJM's highly skilled staff responsible for property entitlements, governmental and community relations, architectural and land planning, construction management, and positioning of ground-up and redevelopment properties.
With more than 30 years in construction development, he was founder and chairman of Parton & Edwards Construction, a Santa Barbara company that has developed a broad range of residential, commercial, institutional and public works projects in excess of $300 million in value.
With a fine-tuned antennae to consumers' ever-changing tastes and keen retail acumen, Parton brings a market sensitivity and mastery of all phases of development in the highly competitive, Southern California real estate environment.
He holds a B.A. in Economics from Westmont College in Santa Barbara.
Chief Financial Officer
Eric Sahn oversees all financial affairs, leasing and asset management for DJM Capital Partners. With over 25 years experience in real estate investment and development, he brings unique knowledge and expertise in both the financial and capital markets, and an acquisitions savvy instrumental in assembling and capitalizing the firm's property portfolio.
Sahn began his career in private real estate investment and development in New York. He managed over $700 million in acquisitions, development and financing for hotels, office buildings, industrial buildings, shopping centers and apartments.
A specialist in urban infill development, Sahn worked for Avalon Bay Communities, the nation's second largest multi-family real estate investment trust and as Vice President of Development for Legacy Partners, where he was responsible for development of multi-family units in the SF Bay Area totaling $240 million.
He holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University graduating magna cum laude, and an MBA in Real Estate from the University of California at Berkeley.
Senior Vice President, Acquisitions
Robert oversees all aspects of the evaluation and acquisitions process for DJM Capital Partners. With over 15 years experience in retail real estate investment, he brings unique expertise in the identification and assembly of a quality portfolio, with an eye toward enhancing value for DJM Capital and its investors. Brown's process includes identifying properties for acquisition, conducting thorough site evaluations, working with the CFO in the structuring of deals, and providing expertise in value-add creation for newly acquired portfolio assets.
Prior to joining DJM Capital Partners, Robert was Chief Investment Officer for A&C Ventures, playing a key role in the acquisition and financing of a $600 million dollar portfolio of single tenant, net lease properties. Prior to his career in commercial real estate, he had a 15-year career as an international oil & gas exploration geologist with various Atlantic Richfield companies. His work in international drilling and exploration spanned over five continents, and was responsible for helping to shape Arco's International Risk Evaluation and Strategic Exploration Planning.
He holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.
Senior Vice President, Retail Leasing
Heather oversees retail leasing for all of DJM's properties. Managing a leasing team of in-house specialists and outside consultants, she sets merchandising strategies and guides the overall "curatorial" approach that defines, in particular, DJM's newer properties coming on line in 2014 and 2015, Lido Marina Village and Pacific City. She is often called upon for opportunity analysis of potential retail acquisitions to enhance the company's real estate portfolio.
An experienced leasing professional with over 25 years in the industry, she has specialized in shopping center and market analysis, lease negotiation and merchandising, with experience both on the developer and tenant sides of the business.
She has held senior leasing positions with General Growth Properties, Wet Seal and The Irvine Company, where she managed the company's Regional Centers Division, including Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California.
Vice President, Construction and Development
Becky is responsible for managing all construction and development activities for DJM Capital Partners, working directly with company President, Lindsay Parton. From project commencement through completion, she directs all entitlements, government relations, architectural and land planning as well as construction. She is responsible for project budgeting and oversight, and for managing a large team of consultants across the spectrum of engineering, architecture, construction and design. Becky is equally at home in a hard hat or a business suit, and can alternately be found in both!
Learning the business "from the inside out", Becky was raised in the family construction business. Her grandfather founded Bogard Construction in Santa Cruz, California in 1947, and the family legacy in the business has provided her not only a deep well of experience, but a passion for the attention to detail it takes to manage complex projects and teams. She is bringing that level of experience and detail to both Lido Marina Village and Pacific City, where she is managing all aspects of the projects' entitlement, development, design and construction phases.
Vice President, Property Management
Patricia Apel, CPM, CLS, is responsible for all property management and operations functions for DJM Capital Partners. Hiring and overseeing a staff of property managers and operational personnel at each of DJM's current properties, Patricia manages both day-to-day operational and tenant-relations issues as well as the broader, more strategic oversight of the portfolio as a whole.
Patricia's experience is critical to DJM's strategic growth, often working hand-in-hand with Eric Sahn, DJM's CFO and his team to manage the due diligence process for potential property acquisitions. Her keen ability to manage and control operational budgets to optimize the health and profitability of each property has been integral to enhancing DJM's portfolio potential and to building value for DJM and its clients, investors and partners.
